🎯 Purpose
The LEAD System is designed to raise up spiritual leaders at RLCC who can shepherd people, lead ministries, and fulfill the mission of making disciples. Through progressive leadership levels, training projects, mentoring, and practical service, leaders grow in Christlike character, skill, and calling.
📖 Philosophy
We believe that leadership development is relational, practical, and spiritual. Leaders are not just trained—they are formed through experience, reflection, and community. Every leader grows through intentional mentoring, real-life ministry, and ongoing feedback.
⏱ Time Commitment
The LEAD System is designed to empower bi-vocational leaders. Each level is structured with flexible and sustainable time expectations based on a leader’s life stage and capacity:
- Level 1 – Lay Leader: 3 to 7 hours per week, depending on the stage and current life season
- Level 2 – Intern: 5 to 7 hours per week
- Level 3 – Junior Pastor 1: 6 to 8 hours per week
- Level 4 – Junior Pastor 2: 7 to 9 hours per week
- Level 5 – Assistant Pastor: 8 to 10 hours per week
- Level 6 – Associate Pastor: 10 to 12 hours per week
- Level 7 – Congregational Pastor: 12 to 14 hours per week
These hours include all ministry activities—such as leading or mentoring, TAG participation, preparation, training projects, and scheduled meetings. Leaders are encouraged to move at a grace-filled pace, prioritizing soul care and relational health over performance.
🧠 Core Skill Areas
Each level includes training projects that develop three key leadership skills:
- Spiritual Formation Skills – Deepening personal discipleship and soul care
- Communication Skills – Growing in clarity when teaching, preaching, or sharing
- Leadership Skills – Strengthening planning, team-building, and servant leadership
🛠️ Training Project Types
Training projects are either:
- One-time projects – Completed once and shared in a TAG meeting
- Multi-stage projects – Completed in three phases:
- Initial attempt with feedback
- Revised attempt based on input
- Final presentation in a live or public setting
Multi-stage projects are used for more public or strategic leadership tasks, such as preaching, leading teams, or casting vision.
At Level 1, training projects are embedded in either a Life Group (focused on spiritual formation and relationships) or a Task Group (focused on ministry participation and teamwork). Projects are designed to be doable for bi-vocational members and include action steps like sharing your testimony, leading a devotional, mentoring a volunteer, or organizing a group task.
🤝 TAG Mentoring Philosophy
TAG mentors are guides and encouragers—not mere evaluators. Their role is to help leaders reflect, receive support, and apply what they’re learning in real ministry. The focus is transformation, not just completion.
🔄 What is TAG?
TAG stands for Timothy Accountability Group—a rhythm of reflection, practice, and mentoring. Each leader is part of a small group guided by a mentor. The TAG cycle includes:
- Week 1: Spiritual Formation
- Week 2: Communication
- Week 3: Leadership
- Week 4: Reflection and Support
Each week, leaders present training projects, share insights, and receive prayerful encouragement.
Note: For Level 1 Lay Leaders, TAG mentoring may occur every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the person’s availability and life season.
🧩 The Seven Levels of Leadership
Level 1 – Lay Leader
Three Progressive Roles: Facilitators, Supervisors, and Team Leaders
This level introduces the core habits and heart of spiritual leadership. It is divided into three sub-roles, each completed in about 2–3 months, with a flexible time commitment and relational mentoring.
👥 Facilitator of Life Groups
Facilitators lead Life Groups—relational discipleship communities composed of members. Their role is to create safe, Spirit-filled environments where people can learn the Gospel, practice H.A.B.I.T.S., and build Christ-centered relationships. Facilitators guide spiritual conversations, model authentic faith, and walk with others toward maturity. They complete training projects related to leading devotionals, practicing spiritual habits, and fostering relational growth.
🛠️ Supervisor of Task Groups
Supervisors lead Task Groups—ministry teams composed of workers or volunteers serving in REACH, CORE, or LEAD areas. They provide spiritual encouragement, schedule coordination, and basic mentoring to their team. Through their training projects, they learn to support others using the SHARP framework, lead team huddles, and organize ministry tasks with care and clarity.
💼 Team Leader of IMPACT
Team Leaders of IMPACT lead a group of Facilitators and/or Supervisors within a ministry stream (REACH, CORE, or LEAD). They offer spiritual direction, clarify goals, and ensure team alignment with RLCC’s mission. Their training includes mentoring multiple leaders, casting vision, planning initiatives, and facilitating team evaluations. They may also represent their team in IMPACT planning meetings and collaborate with Junior Pastors.
Level 2 – Intern
Assists a Junior Pastor in mentoring and equipping Lay Leaders. Interns support small teams or ministries while practicing deeper teaching, care, and communication skills. They focus on growth in doctrine, leadership, and faithful real-life ministry.
Level 3 – Junior Pastor 1
Mentors Lay Leaders and Interns under the oversight of a Junior Pastor 2. They support and coach others through TAGs and one-on-ones. Junior Pastors 1 help facilitate ministry flow and serve their assigned communities.
Level 4 – Junior Pastor 2
Oversees a Community and mentors Junior Pastors 1 and Interns. They ensure the health of leaders and ministries, collaborate with the LEAD Pastor, and handle major spiritual and leadership dynamics in their area.
Level 5 – Assistant Pastor
Leads a Ministry Department (e.g., LEAD, CORE, REACH). They align the work of Junior Pastors 2 and Junior Pastors 1, provide strategic direction, and serve as a shepherd within the church.
Level 6 – Associate Pastor
Oversees a system and mentors Assistant Pastors. They shape strategy, create leadership tools, and ensure alignment and multiplication of ministry across the church.
Level 7 – Congregational Pastor
Leads a congregation or RLCC Center. They shepherd the entire body, preach regularly, lead the SLT, and coordinate direction across systems and departments in their assigned location.
🛤️ Long-Term Goal
To raise up a pipeline of spiritually grounded leaders—disciples who make disciples, workers who serve with joy, and shepherds who lead with wisdom—so that every person in RLCC can experience real life in Christ together with others.
🌿 Grace and Flexibility
Each level is ideally completed in about one year, but leaders may move at their own pace. We honor the reality of different life situations. What matters most is steady growth in grace, not rushing through tasks.
