STEP 1: Practicing the Presence of God
Checklist for Coach:
- β Encourage the trainee to set aside a few minutes daily to reflect on God's nearness.
- β Ask them to record insights or prayers in a journal or note app.
- β Invite them to share a brief reflection during their next TAG session.
- β Debrief: βWhat did you learn about God through this practice?β
STEP 2: Writing a Personal Rule of Life
Checklist for Coach:
- β Guide the trainee through the elements: rest, prayer/devotion, relationships, reflection.
- β Let them create a written version (chart, paragraph, or visual guide).
- β Ask them to walk you through it and explain how they plan to live it out.
- β Debrief: βWhat part of your Rule brings you the most clarity or challenge?β
STEP 3: Retreat Reflection
Checklist for Coach:
- β Ensure the trainee attends an RLCC or approved personal retreat.
- β Ask them to reflect using key questions: βWhat did God reveal? What shifted in you?β
- β Let them share their insight during a TAG meeting or with you personally.
- β Debrief: Affirm their openness and any growth observed.
STEP 4: Guided Spiritual Conversation (2 stages)
Stage 1 β Listening Practice
- β Teach active listening and spiritual discernment.
- β Assign a peer/mentee for the trainee to meet with.
- β Let them reflect on what they sensed God was doing in the other person.
Stage 2 β Discernment and Encouragement
- β Encourage them to gently share a Spirit-led insight or encouragement.
- β Debrief: βHow did you sense the Spirit leading in the conversation?β
STEP 5: Developing a Devotional Series (3 stages)
Stage 1 β Plan
- β Help them choose a biblical theme and 3 parts for a series.
- β Review the outlines together.
Stage 2 β Deliver with Feedback
- β Observe or listen to one or more of the devotionals.
- β Provide constructive feedback: content, clarity, tone.
Stage 3 β Refine and Reflect
- β Let them revise or teach again if needed.
- β Debrief: βWhat have you learned about teaching Scripture?β
STEP 6: Rule of Life Revisited
Checklist for Coach:
- β Ask the trainee to prayerfully review and revise their Rule of Life.
- β Invite them to coach someone else through creating theirs.
- β Debrief: βHow did it feel to pass on this spiritual discipline?β
